    JRC FF50 transducer advice

    G/day all,
I'am getting a hold of a JRC FF50 sounder off a mate minus the transducer (broken) and was wondering if any one could put me onto someone who will supply one, I am after a transom mount unit and don't know if there are different models/types for these units or how much? Don't know much about them at all realy , Allso after a users manual as well, can you down load them from any were? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers pete.

Give Trymax marine a ring on (07) 3245 3633. They are JRC stockists. They should be able to help you out.

I agree with the others, the guys at Trymax are very helpful, this is a copy of a help sheet they gave me after fitting mine.

zulu that is the one I was thinking of but could not find.
fshoo, make sure you run the transducer lead on the other side of the boat to the rest of the wires and leads for the best pictures. this was not done when i got my boat so i am refitting the lead today.
here is a pick (not that clear) of my JRC off fraser 3 weeks ago.

    Re: JRC FF50 transducer advice

G'day Pete, I have had an FF50 for about 4-5 years now and love it. Both Trymax and TMQ have been excellent to deal with.

If you are unable to get hold of a complete manual I don't mind copying mine and sending it on to you.

Thanks Jerry, I serched through the mates boat and found a manual the other day allso found one on line and down loaded it, had a play with it yesterday (the sounder that is) and looks to be a good unit, do you use the back ground in black or white or just stick to the blue ?

    Re: JRC FF50 transducer advice

G'day Pete, I generally stick to blue, personal preference I suppose and what I am used to. Give them all a try and see what you like.

With the mounting of the transducer I have had mixed results but generally acceptable. My sounder has been on three different boats over the last 5 years or so- Whittley 21ft, Bertram 26ft and Quintrex 17ft. The unit was mounted in the best possible area on all hulls/transoms, the Whittley would hold bottom up to about 27kn, Bertram 22kn but the Quinnie is great up to about 32kn- amazing!!
I suppose it comes down to hull design etc.etc if you follow the fitting instructions and then fine tune from there you shouldn't have a drama. Main thing is a clean/solid flow of water and not too close to the prop.

Hope this helps and good luck with it.
    Jerry
