Has anyone had any experience with these garmin antennas.(pictured)
Why old one (pictured - mushroom) is faulty and will probably cost heaps to fix. Had to be sent to Sydney as the Brisbane office no longer does the job.
I tried a mates from work (e-bay copied model from China) and it acquired in 20 seconds. Has a magnetic base and slightly bigger than a matchbox. They look the goods. I have an old Garmin 128.
Yep we used those antenna's on vehicle mounted units in some of out rural bushfire units here in the NT.... they coped a flogging and NEVER gave us any trouble.....
I see no reason why they wouldn't be fine on a boat.....
Ratman, the chinese copies work well in my experience.
Also in my experience are the rogues from the people that call themselves 'Garmin' in Sydney. What a waste of time and effort those blokes are.
With an antenna, I wouldnt worry, but with an actual gps, contact Garmin direct.
I had my unit go faulty, and Sydney was useless. I contacted Garmin in Asia, sent it over, and they sent me a NEW one back, out of warranty, because it was a software fault.
I love Garmin, but wont deal with Australian 'agents'.
