Moogerah Yesterday
Fished Moogerah yesterday: anyone who has waterskied or boated on this dam, should go and have a good look and even take some pics for future reference. I have never seen it so low and the number of fence posts and stumps that are now exposed is unbelievable. These posts and stumps even when there is a sizeable amount of water in the dam must just be below the surface is spots.
But on to the fishing. I started about 9am and tried my old haunts out from the old boat ramp with out any sucess. After moving down towards the Dam wall and directly out from the Gorge I managed about 20 fish in about 2 hrs. None were huge with the biggest about 40cm. But it was a plesant day and only one other boat on the water. All fish caught on Jackalls in any colour but no other lure or Jackall imitation seemed to work. The water is so muddy that perhaps the loud rattle helps fish locate the lure.
The usual boat ramp is now too dry and surrounded by posts and timber for safe use . Boats need to be launched from further around the "spit" where it is quite safe with a 4wd or 6 cylinder sedan/wagan.
Remember to take the aeroguard the flies were terrible and the cattle love giving cars a good lick while you are out on the water.
