Surface bass

Went for a paddle in the yak this arvo and met up with Geoff72.Trolled on the way and scored a little fella bout35 on a minnow.Caught up with geoff and he had already scored 2 on his trusty jackall.Heard the cicadas start doing there thing and decided it was time to bung on a popper.To no avail,meanwhile geoff had just equalled his pb with a fat 47cm jobbie.I kept fishing the popper and on dusk started hearing a few smak the surface.Cast about 1 meter from where i saw a smak and whammo,no hookup let the popper sit a then gave a tiny tweak and whak again.Dove for the lillys but stayed connected and after a short fight boated my first bass on a popper for the year.Scored another not long after and missed another 2 big hits.Great arvo on the water. There's something special about catching wild to semi wild Bass isn't there.
Especialy on popers, Thats how my father introjuced me to bass fishing in the Shoal haven area.

Nice work mate,
its awsome catching wild river bass especially when i go to my spot x its basically unheard of but the fishing is about 10 times as hard as in impoundment becuase they are the spookiest fishi have ever seen and by the time we see them they are on there way to somewhere else buts its great when you finally get rewarded for persistance so well done mate fantastic effort.

Yep poppers are really fun,cant see myself fishing anything else in the morn or the afternoon while the weather is warm.Ben
