Help on Choosing a Sounder/ GPS
I have a 6.7 hooker centre console and looking to upgrade my sounder and GPS. I live in Townsville and fish for a wide variety of areas from 20m of water up on the reef for coral trout and 60m to 70 m for red emperor and I am keen to chase a few marlin soon. I will need a chart for most of the Queensland coast.
I definitely want at least a 12" screen for my boat.
I want to buy the best I can with my budget. ($4000)
I think I will get everything installed for about $500
I don't have much experience with electronics and would like as much help as I can get.
If anybody could recommend a set up i would be appreciative.
I have been looking at C120 or M121North Star or the 6100i North Star
Thanks Bounty Hunter

Well you wont get a c120 for that price..4k might just be enough for the screen without nothing attached...and i am not a big fan of Northstar/ Navman....

Re: Help on Choosing a Sounder/ GPS
Sure you can get a C120 for less than $4,000. You can get the system pack for less than $3000USD/$3375AUD delivered. Of course you would need a transducer for the DSM300. Maybe you are thinking of the E120 which would run over $4000 for the complete system pack.
The Raymarine C120 system would be my first choice. The 6100i the second choice. Don't forget to get your Navionics maps. The Raymarine C120 system pack comes with the C120, a DSM300 sounder module and Raystar 125 GPS antenna. You would need to select a transducer which could be either a 600w or 1kw with this system.

Thanks
So you would choose the Raymarine C120 over the North Star 6100i
