    No transducer found

Guys some thoughts would be appreciated.

Since buying 2nd hand boat a few months ago Ive never been able to get my garmin 4100 to work.

for a while there it simply didnt register anything, the bottom, the speed, engine hours, fish.. nothing

Then i noticed that the plug that goes in the back needed to be screwed in tighter. So I did this and now it says "no transducer found, simulation mode?"

Is this likely to be a transducer probolem or a problem with the head unit, or perhaps a wiring problem.

Should I just chuck the whole lot out and get a new one?

    Appreciate your thoughts

    Cheers

I had a hummingbird and had a simular problem
Had the hummingbird people check if it was the set No
Found that there was a broken wire in the lead going to the transducer
put a new transducer on and voila it worked.

    landog,

I had the same problem recently with a garmin unit.
The cure was the same as rodman states above.
New transducer and lead and all was fixed.

BTW how old is this unit?I havent heard of a garmin 4100

    Not Navman I don't

Landog, it could be either the set or transducer.

I install them, but I dont have the facilities to trace internal faults.

If you want to get it checked out, take it to Trymax Marine at Capalaba.

    Ask for Scotty.

    Cheers
