Usually depends on the bait you are using...I use Black Magic and Gamakatsu...they are very good but a little $$$

I use different styles for different situations...get yourself a Gamakatsu Hook Guide if you can, gives an explanation of what hook is best for what.

    Hi Splash.
As Voodoo Chile says, depends what bait you are using, eg pilchards require a different set-up to strip baits, also whether you are boat fishing or land based may play a part.
Personally I have found Mustad Demons size 8/0 able to catch anything from snapper to spotties on strip baits out of a boat, hence these are my favourite hook.
I particularly like that they are non-offset, I believe they give a better hook-up rate and are less likely to cause the bait to spin.
From the surf with pillies, gamakatsu 'gangstar' gang hooks are deadly, with large flesh baits for large tailor/mulloway, either gangies again or snelled gamakatsu octopus suicides, which I straighten the kirb (offset) out of.
From the rocks with large flesh baits, I've used gamakatsu octopus circles or mustad penetrators, but I am going to give the 8/0 Demons a go, no need to strike with these circle style hooks.
    Cheers.
