    Daiwa Saltiga Blast 4500 info

    Morning Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Daiwa Saltiga Blast 4500 either good or bad . They say it can carry 400mts of 30lb braid that depends on the thickness of the braid I suppose. Just wondering how much 50lb Bionic Braid you could get on it as it is nice and thin . Any information anyone has with this reel would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank's
    Gary

My mate has one that i've used a bit, i think he has 300m of 40lb daiwa sensor braid on it. Bionic is a pretty thick braid when compared to some of the jap stuff. Its a nice reel very solid feel and good gearing. What did you want to use it for?

Re: Daiwa Saltiga Blast 4500 info

there was a model called a "Saltist 4500", Basically a blast re jigged with a swanky handle, different colour spool and about a hundred cheaper. was a special model for Aust. only as it was a non tournament range so any Daiwa dealer could sell them.
Camp bells had them online but seems to have dissapeared and been replaced witha new model called catalina 4500 and priced at 629. ouch. Try bluewater tackle in WA. they had the saltist for 470approx only a few months ago.

    cheers Roo.

Was talking to a guy in a tackle store recently who showed me one that had given up the ghost after a few VERY SOLID jigging sessions. Can't recall exactly what the problem was, seized up from memory, but it was the second one that he'd had in with the same problem, both from the same angler. Daiwa had replaced them no worries, and he did make a point of saying they had been punshied pretty hard on some solid fish, but that being said, he's not a fan of them at all. Thinks that for the money they should be a bit more solid.

Depending on what you intend to use it for, this might not be relevant. But thought I would share this second-hand information for what it's worth.

Re: Daiwa Saltiga Blast 4500 info

I am thinking of teaming one up with a slatiga hiramasa 63s for light jigging (30lb line) and inshore fishing for jewies / snapper etc so I too would like to hear anyones thoughts and experiences. I am realistic in that this is NOT a reel designed for heavy jigging punishment with 60-80lb braid.

any more info out there from people who have actually used these reels is much appreciated!!
