Hi All
Well after much anticipation, i finally got to take my newly purchased boat out. But i guess i better start at the start of the story.
About 4 weeks ago, i purchased a 2004 4.35 Allycraft, with a 40HP Yamaha on the back. This is my first boat, so to say i was stoked with the purchase was an understatement. Unfortunately 2 weeks prior to this, i had shoulder surgery, and would be in a sling for 6 weeks. So not only was i an cripple, i was unable to enjoy and modify my new rig.
Through much help from my old man, over the next few weeks we added a few extras to make it more fishable, and exactly how i would like it. These included:
- Nav Lights
- Navman GPS
- Lowrance sounder
- Home made casting platform
- Motor Guide Wireless 55lb
- Other bits and pieces
Due to me being unable to drive, and my old mans limited time, we were unable to take it out and see if any of this works. Well today i was taking it out (after 1 week out of a sling) regardless of the weather!
So we decided on a plastics session down the pin. Got in the water about 6.30, and took about 30min testing everything and slowly motoring around. Then i caught a small flattie to christen the new boat!!!! Not a big one but you got to start somewhere.
This is where things got interesting. From 7.30 to 8.30 we drove up a tiny creek and sat through a pretty severe eletrical storm and about an inch of rain. So with about 50L of water in the boat we continued to fish for a few more hours, but the wild weather seemed to shut things down.
The verdict. Everything ran smoothly, worked first time and was in the correct position. 100% perfect. Awesome. I must also thank the members on here who gave me advice on some of the fit out, especially the casting platform. That is what forums like this are all about, and so much knowledge is obtained from the simple sharing of information through the telling of yarns, etc.
Anyway i just thought i would share that with you, and some pics to come.
Cheers
