IF it's a popup you can block with a small program.

Finga don't you like the lingerie ads on the left . Gotta explain to the minister why there is a semi nake girl on the left when i'm reading the forums

The ads help a little bit towards the cost of running the site.
If I get rid of them I would have to turn the site into a subscription site to try and cover the running costs.

So, yes there is a way of getting rid of them, but most people would not like it.

They way I look at it is that the little bit of download that they take up is a small price to pay to use the site for free.

If enough people are interested in having a subscription version with no ads then I could look at setting it up.

lingerie ads have been blocked. Although you would see more on TV or at the newsagent, but I decided to have them removed due to comments from members

I dont have a problem with most of the pop ups, but the one that jumps out at you with a little screen and VERY LOUD sound track is very annoying. It drops down in front of where you log on, and you have to find the turn off button to stop it.

BTW I vote to bring back the lingerie add.

there is 4 seperate ads on each page, surely this is enough $$ without having the popup with the audio, which is VERY annoying
I wouldnt buy anything from the popup ad out of principle

The ads pay for a small portion of the running cost of the site. Some is funded from sales of stickers and Ausfish merchandise and the balance is paid for by me.

Thanks Steve...what would be the cost of this service roughly??
Would this be like a parallel universe of the normal Ausfish but without the 'extras'??

Yes, it would be a direct copy, just no ads.

Haven't given a price much of a thought. It would depend if it could be done automaticly. It it was auto, like a paypal payment, it would be cheaper to administer. It would also depend on how many people take it it. Could be somewhere from $2.00 to $10.00 a month.

Re: Is there a way to stop the pop up ads??

How would it be possible to gauge if this would be feasible or not??
Maybe a poll on the general page.
An auto paypal payment or auto bank payment would be the only way to make the payments.
Any other way would be a pain in the posteria to try and keep track of who's paying and who's not.
I'm sure a lot of members would pay a subscription if it only means your able to buy faster servers (is that right??) to make loading a page quicker.
    Cheers then

would i be assuming correctly also,,, that if its a direct copy,,,, threads/posts that are placed in either format would then populate the other???????

the only advantage would be no pesky pop ups/ad's,,,, but i'd certainly subscribe

    can it get any better??????????????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgG_TxEPaQE
