Weld the frame and i would use checker plate on top if you could afford it because theirs no carpet for lures to get in and its super easy to clean and can get wet. That might get hot so idk. Carpeted Ply is probably the easiest. It is a bitch to clean without high pressure and the wood can rot if not sealed properly.

if i use ply i will be sealing it all with 2pac before the peices are put together we got heaps of 2 pac at work . I like the look of checker plate but it would be glary , unless its painted .

    G'day

Use alloy for your framing and carpeted ply over your top. The marine carpet I have in my tinny, you'd be hard pressed getting any hooks caught in it.

Yeh I have alway wondered about checkerplate metal because the Bar Crushers have them and i thought they would get hot. I dont wear shoes in a boat. It would Glare and probably get hot. Heaps easier to clean though.

yeah i think the 25mm ally frame with ply on it then carpet is a goer . i am not sure if i should spray the tinny or not , if i do im thinking black or red on the sides and white on the inside . what do you think , to paint or not to paint ? I have 2pac and primer at work and all the spraying gear i need so it will not cost me anything to paint it .

Put lots of rod holders in it, and then a few more. In my 4.55m seajay i have a total of 12rod holders, plus a 4 way rod rack - I find the rod holders come in handy for when you need somewhere to quickly put down your rod or the pliers, or your knife, or your scissors, or your lip grippers etc.

The 4 way rod rack is also great, as it keeps rods not in use below the deck - that way a wayward back cast doesn't hit any rods (speaking from experience ).

Personally I am happy my tinny doesn't have a paint job. That way i'm not worried about scratching it when i'm going up creeks crabbing, and i don't have to spend too much time cleaning it down when i get home.
