    Redcliffe today

Launched (4M SeaJay BassNBarra) from Scarborough around 630 this morning and headed for the tripod beacon.

Had to reduce to trolling speed due to the conditions. No luck at the beacon so proceeded to the Redcliffe Jetty area. Got a mixed bag of bream, flathead and grinners. Nothing of any size but fun to catch. All caught on snap-back electric chicken.

By midmorning conditions were calming so I fished my way back to the tripod beacon. on the way there, I spent 30 minutes or so chasing a small pod of tuna for no results.

From the tripod I drifted in towards the north west using plastics & frogmouth pillies. Came across a bait ball in midwater and hooked up on bait to a nice spottie mack.

By the time the action ceased, I landed & released 8 with one kept for the barbie.

Picture curtesy of mobile phone not the best.

Finally back at Scarborough just before noon which proved timely as the wind was staring to freshen again.

Great timing for a trip out before the wind picks up for the weekend. Looks like a fun morning. The spottie will go niceley on the barbie plate i bet. Good stuff.

Your right, they're schoolies not spotties. Either way they're a good feed. Sounds like a fun session.

Looked up the DPI&F site and based on the lateral line it's a schoolie.

One thing from the fishing trip, in future I'll either bait or lure fish. Too much hassle to be set up for both.

    Do schoolies/spotties bite at night?

With the weather hotting up, I'll be doing more late afternoon/evening trips.
