sorry. i mean in a combo in colour
Id say its not enough. I need 640x320 to get any accuracy on shapes.
My Koden sounder only has 320x234 pixels on a 6inch screen and it shows plenty of detail. I usually have it set in split screen mode and use one screen for bottom lock, and other to look at the water column. Can see individual fish no problem at all.

I have the furuno fcv620 it runs a low pixel count but is much better than my lowrance lcx15 wich ran a higher pixel count , the furuno seems to run a much better software package i get great readings at the depths i'v been to only 70mt i wouldnt be too worried about pixels in better quality colour units just my opinion ....matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
I agree with Shane and Matt, I recently upgraded from a 640x480 colour Eagle sounder to a Furuno FCV-620. There is no comparison, the Furuno is a far superior unit, even though it has a lower screen resolution.

I also recently downgraded to a lower resolution furuno 620 as well and cant be happier.Even in auto mode without any adjustment i am amazed at how I can differentiate between baitfish and real fish.
The only factor that lets it down in my opinion is ME,the human factor and my lack of knowledge and ability as a fisherman.
