A mate and I headed to the top of the banks on tuesday to wet a line and to put some more hours on the Riptide. Conditions weren't as good as forecasted but still quite alright. We circled No 2 FAD a few times with a couple of lures in tow but no luck. As we got closer to our marks the sounder lit up the screen was all but red, not being 100% familiar with the new furuno i wasn't sure if this was right, so after a couple of adjustments and a few tweeks of the knobs i thought we may as well give it a go. We started off with pillies and squid but nothing really happened untill i was smashed by something decent. I checked the sounder once more and it was still red approx 20m off the bottom, so i decided to throw out the river 2 sea squid jig. Every drop it got smashed by 750mm to 1m AJ's. I eventually had to retire it due to ill health. Marty was still with the bait but having no luck so he jump onto the other rod with a jig and the same happened every drop.....smashed. After some great arm stretching fun and battles it was time for us to have a break and move on to somewhere where there were other species. But guess what we found each time AJ's. All lived to see another day and we managed to bring home a couple of snapper and tuskies. All in all a great day, cant wait till next time.
No real photo's due to being too busy with the rods but got some good video thats sure to give us laugh over a couple of beers.
