Have you considered a 200 Opti?
Cheers
Bill
I have a haines hunter 565C with a mercury 200 blackmax.
I'am looking at a new four stroke and would like to know what fuel economy and the speed your boat goes.
My boat goes around 40 knots and at cruising speed i get around 1 liter - 1 kilometer.
thanks mark

this may be a bit hard to calculate, but i run a pair of Suzuki 150's on my Noosacat 660 and it average's 1litre per km for both engine's.
Thanks julian1
Have you had any problems with your pair of four strokes.
Mark,
I have been down this same road. Not that I'm replacing a 200 hp (I actually have a 115 Opti) but I was curious to the econ of the 175 Zuk when it was first released.
The owners I exchanged correspondence with were amazed with the Economy of their 175 Suzi's which was basically the same as my 2004, 115 Optimax.
How does 2 k's to the litre sound !!
This was consistantly recorded for long offshore runs on 4000 rev cruising speeds on 6m Fibreglass rigs !!
I seam to recall one owner reaching a top speed (WOT) OF 43 KNOTS on a 6.4m Freedom (F/glass h/cab), he was burning 65 - 70 litres, running out of Moolooaba to fish the Northern Banks/Hards and returning. A total run of 130 - 140k's.
Cheers

Hi
1.6 ks / litre for a 175 on a 620 Haines, its a deep vee, fairly heavy and maybe the motor could be a bit higher out of the water.
I think you might also consider the 140 - the 175/150 might be a little heavy on the stern
Whichway

I have a DF150 on my Fisher 600 Maxi hooked up to the EP20 zuke sensor. My Fisher would be similar if not a little heavier than your haines but the economy is very good.
Attached a pic showing the most economical cruising speed.
Mark go the opti i have a 150 and on average 1.8 klm to the ltr.
Mark,
My old man has a 6m Fisher with 175 on the back. Get similar fuel useage as Greg. Had to beleive the punch the thing has over 4,000 RPM all of the way through. If you've got the dollars, go the 175.
Cheers,

To elaborate on previous, I have a similar boat to yours, previously had a 175 '91 model johnson on the back, use to get similar figures to you, about 1 litre km.
Put the 200 opti on the back early this year, getting close enough to 1/2 the previous usage.
I to looked at the zukes, however they wanted another 5 K on top of the price of the Opti and that was for a 175, not 200hp, could not justify.
I pondered on the 175 Opti, but I went for the 200, in my opinion, you cannot beat cubes ( 2.5 Litre as opposed to a 3 litre block )
Food for thought, good luck with your decision
PS: It to is a 80km/hr + boat
Cheers
Bill
PS: the 565, like ALL Haines ( at least older ones ), go all that much better with HP, either way, I would go the 175, as opposed to the 150.

No not at all, they are a very sweet motor and i'm guessing that the 175 with variable valve timing would be even better.
I did see a Haines 565 up in Noosa when i was on holidays witha 150/175 Zuke and it seemed to float it ok
it was a blue 565, they are a very nice looking old hull
Greg P that's very good fuel economny.
I've been on a Glacier Bay with twin 175's suzuki and they were very nice.
Yeah mate is was a 2670. It went alright it was kind of chopy with abit of swell. She rocks abit side on with the swell/chop and it blows a little spray over the front when trolling into a big sea. It rode good in other directions and it ate up the chop easily. I still much prefer the old mans Boston Whaler as far as ride is concerned though - im not realy a fan of cats.
