what size reel would you recommend...

I want to put a nice reel on my 2-4kg 6'6 dropshot which will generally be used for some SP and light bait fishing, will be running 6lb braid on it and am leaning towards the daiwa tierra reel, but am unsure which size to go for....the 1500 or the 2000....guess it will be used as an 'all rounder' setup, mainly for targeting estuary/river species.... What size would you go for?

You would want to have around a 1000 - 2000 size reel. Stradic are on special for $169, if you want to go Shimano. I was in the same situation and really looked into it. I went with the Daiwa Capricorn 2000. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshootoutcapstrad.html

or you could get one of the new mg model stradics. They look nice and weigh only 7 ounces or something. I'ts a personal choice.

I use a 2000 stradic some times but recently i bought a 2500 diawa sol and in my opinion it is a much better reel we fish placcies all the time and both these reels are up to catching good fish but i would go the sol ....matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......

If it's to be an allrounder I'd go for the 2000, to cover all bases. Still not a huge reel but big enough to handle a big cranky flathead if one decides to swim your way

from what i have heard the 1500 and 2000 are the exact same reel with different spools so on that i would def go the 2000 as it will be more of an all rounder with more line capacity. Sean

thanks again for the suggestions, I ended up getting a 2500 size tierra mainly for the extra line capacity, and I found it at the best price down at my local tackle shop.....hurrah for the little guys
