I am with Adam on this. But at the same time supportive of the MBAA and the work they are doing. And whilst that may sound like a contradiction, my logic is this ...

There is a high chance of some zoning coming in. The MBAA realise this and are working extremely hard from what I can tell, to minimise the impact that these zones will have on fishermen, commercial and recreational. Therefore I support their efforts.

But Adam has an excellent point, but it is not something that the MBAA should be focused on. It's something the Fishing & Lifestyle Party, Fishing Clubs and other anglers should be focusing on, by writing to members etc. A few scientist shooting holes in the very concept of marine parks, as appears to have happened based on Adams other post will go some way towards this.

There is more than one angle being taken by a variety of different green groups, no reason why we should not have a number of different groups attacking this from a variety of angles as well.

    Adam,
So if you and others know of a "better way" and have constructive comments, and possible improvements to the current process, why dont you forward these to Grant.Talk is cheap. To date at least Grant and his team are achieving some possible results.

Just a personal comment, but I think David you have missed the point of these forums, they are a method of public communication and as such "constructive comments" and "possible improvements" have been forwarded to Grant in an appropriate manner.

Apart from that I think that both the MBAA and Adamy are on the right track. Both methods and any other appropriate method should be employed. We cant take one tact - like the MBAA tack and have that as the only line of defence against closures. Similarly we cant JUST have the political option - all three methods are going to have to work together - even if they are independent processes. AFLP should be backing up MBAA, the scientific argument and vice versa.

My question is; IF Adamy's idea has any merit, how do we get it in front of those that are making the decisions? Can AFLP help? or is it the domain of MBAA as they are directly involved in the stakeholder group and AFLP arent.

    Just my 2 cents.
