Yep same here. I still like the Monkey Beach idea, so maybe we give it a couple of weeks and see what the weather and tides are like and then confirm a date .

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)

I have always thought that if you are moving the pic needs to move faster, if you are at anchor the pic needs to move slower. When you are moving imagine the screen is going really slow, you wouldn't know what is truly under youat any time. Sean

Ahem, back on topic guys. pic advance refers to the ratio between drawing a vertical lines of pixels on the screen with the number of times the transducers "pings". at 1:1, 1 ping 1 line of pixels. that could be considered "realtime" data update. At 1:2, 1 ping 2 lines of pixels less detail but updates faster. 2:1, 2 pings 1 line of pixels, more detail per line of pixels( would only recommend using this sort of ratio at slower speeds). Now this is just my opinion, but i feel a-scopes are a complete waste of time. sure it represents real time data, but who amongst us can get a bait down 20ft the moment you see a red blip.

The faster the screen scrolls the more recent the information displayed on the screen. If you go to A scope the information on the right hand side of the screen is real time, everything to the left is history. If you want to always have the most recent history on the screen you will want a faster pic rate. If you want a lot of history on the screen so you can get a better feel for things then you want a slower pic rate. I run my pic rate at full speed so I always have the most recent data displayed on screeen.

Also I have a PDF I can email you about how to tune a Furuno sounder for best results. You may find it helpful. If anyone wants this PDF just PM me with your email address and I wll send it to you.

              Good Luck!
The only downfall with running the screen fast is it will make big boulders or lumps look smaller than they are...

I personally run mine on a pretty slow rate....I really need to be able to pick up the smallest lumps and bumps for really ...really deep sea fishing...
