Question Q Fav. leader material for jacks ??

    Hey all

I'm just wondering what everyones favourite leader material is for chasing jacks in clear or dirty water. Do you switch between fluorocarbon and mono, or is mono ok to use all the time . I personally will be trying penn 10x leader this summer but would like to hear what others think are better choices.

    Any advice appreciated

10x is good abrasive but i find it a bit too visible underwater.

i like vanish...but not for casting because its so thick.

i dont really think jacks care....once that lure comes into their zone, itll smash it no matter what

I'm using both Sunline FC Rock as well as Nitlon. Nothing bad about em to say. Had success on 14-16lb strengths.
I'll wait till I lose my first 50cm+ fish before I up it.
It all depends on the structure you are fishing in my opinion.

This year I'm gonna cut down some power line from the front of my house and try that .The little buggers were using my 30lb flurocarbon for dental floss last time I had a decent crack at em .

The Jack is an awsome fish.
The underlying spirit of angling,Is that the skill of the angler,Is pitted against the instinct and strength of the fish,And that the latter is entitled to an even chance for his life. Regards, Hardb8.Kickin tails and razin scales since 1979.

i dont care wat i use for jack, there not a fussy fish.
i chase them at night so there is no point in using flurocarbon as fluro needs sunlight for it to be truley invisable so i just use mono cause its cheap.
for all my fishing during the day i cannot go past sunline fc rock as its extremly then and abrasive resistant

I used as many different leaders last summer as times i got bricked. Started off using 20lb flurocarbon, then i got bricked. Went up to 30lb mono, then i got bricked. Tried 14lb twisted leader, i got bricked. Single strand 35lb schnieder line, i got bricked. The truth is if you let the brute get back in his hidey hole chances are you'll get bricked. Surprisingly the largest jack i landed was on 8lb leader and 6lb braid.

20lb Jinkai for timber areas, 30lb Mason Hardline for rocky areas. Always on 8kg braid or 14lb fireline.

    Jack.

    Thanks guys

Looks like I could use either fluoro or mono. Mind you I think I'll be buying some fluoro in the 40lb just to be sure

Thanks again for the replies so far
