Not a snapper but it will do

Took at run over to the eastern bay today, mostly to see if there were any mackerel or tuna about. We dropped in at manly at about 8ish so it was a little late start but then headed over towards Moreton at almost flat stick. Couldn't find and surface activity along the way so tried the beacons but they seemed to be barren today. Time to switch to plan b and maybe try for a snap or two. Worked a few spots for a few littles snaps then picked up a alright cod at 56cm. We slowly made our way back at about 12ish with a quick stop at the Nielson where I was blown away by one very big and angry snap, but nothing else apart from that.
As the wind started picking up we quickly made a dash back to manly. Only the pic of the little cod today, not snap but it will do.

    Cheers Chris

A couple of nice fillets there Chris. Is that one of the last of the old favourites in its gob?

Nice cod Chris and conditions look great going by the background in your photo.
There are some big snaps around but like you said they sure have a bad atitude.
Did that fish head for the structure?
What line class were you using?
That 10 kilo snapper is out there and its only a matter of time before someone gets lucky.

Conditions out there this morning were perfect but they quickly deteriorated after about 12. By the look of the forecast today was the pick of the week. I was fishing fairly light today with 6lb fireline and 12lb leader (though i crank up 2kg of drag into this gear and it still holds up). Those big fish at the Nielson sure know where there home is, It initially ran away from the wreck stripping about 100m of line but then remembered where its home was . Its definitely not the first time i have been done by a nice snap there, I may have to up my gear next time.

Not a bad little cod Chris. Conditions looked favourable. I'd like to get back into the snaps myself but I can't tear myself away from the Jacks.
