advice please?pin flatties

been targetting flatties on plastics in pin area last few weeks, with some success, but can't seem to jag one of the big girls cruising up there atm. it seems everyone ele is tho, and reading evryone elses success stories is becoming somewhat painful.
using mainly gulps, 3-4 inch.2kg braid etc.
can anyone please give some general tips like water depth,tides,structure you guys look for when targetting the bigger variety?
any tips would be much appreciated.

Mate,try large squidgy wrigglers on 1/4 ounce jigheads......maybe in killer tomato colour ......plenty of big girls caught on these.Keep your gear as light as possible .

upp the size on your placcies mate 5 or 6 and even 7 inch gulp jerkshads get some decent flatties i found like you that the smaller placcies get all the smaller fish which makes alot of sense depending on the depth of the water your fishing i would say a a 1/4 or even a 1/8. cheers chris

I agree with the other boys, upgrade the size of your placcy to 5-6in (which may lead to less quantity but, hopefully, more quality) and fish s.l.o.w! Don't limit your self to gulps either, flatties will hit anything that goes past their nose and will quickly destroy gulps. As it is warming up and approaching breeding season i've been fishing a bit deeper. Look for mud and weed banks (as opposed to purely sand) that drop pretty much straight into deeper water (15-20') with a bit of current. Focus on structure like mud clumps and snags - good luck mate.

does using the bigger plastics you talk of i.e 5 or 6 inch increase your likely hood of hooking onto a big girl moreso then using 3 to 4 inch
i use 3 to 4 inch and have been bagging out lately but only fish up to the kilo mark would that mean there are probably big girls there but they are not taking the size lure. The other night i would have landed over 30 flathead in these spot just kept upsizing but as i said only up to a kilo would changing the size change this do you think????

jesus. fish freak. id be scared to be in the water with that thing.thanks to advice from those above. was at the pin yesterday with my girlfriend, and pleased to report scored a 66cm on a 5 or 6 inch lime tiger jerk shad, so im parttially satisfied. But not totally. this is becoming obsessive.definitely finding you get less hits on the bigger placcies, and seem to get a lot of hits that dont stick. presumably they are smaller flatties that are just grabbing the tail???

Have found also the northerlies arent too friendly on the flatties. do others find this too?
