i have been picking up grunter and busted up by barra and fingermark in the harbour for the past week or so on plastics. i upgrade my bream gear from 2kg to 6-10kg and nothing. the turtleback worms and swimming mullet are the grunter killers at the moment, and dont get me wrong, they are a welcome customer, but im a lonely bream fisherman. i do a fair bit for stocking lake awoonga, but love me bream fishing more than anything. wil be leaving the calliope ramp early tomorrow morning. i just posted a thread on this site tonight. the bream and grunter fishery in gladstone is basically untouched in the harbour on soft plastics, and a underestimated one. i finished up with 22 bream and 6 grunter today with a 5 fish limit of 3.1kg. yesterday i got around the 50 mark in 2.5 hours. mate if you havent tried it, just look for the bommies around the harbour that have flow on them. you blow a lot of plastics and get continually harrased by friggin cod, but its all good. run out tide is also the best with a little chop.
but nice catch on wednesday.
cheers
