Boat rod to suit PENN Senator 6/0

    Hi Team.

I have the older PENN 6/0 Senator in my hot little hands.

Never used it but want to now...

Which rod should I use this brick on?

Off GOVE, NT light to medium game fish, bottom bashing, etc..

    Regards

    thanks Mick.

The PENN I have is so big it cannot fit into my hand and I am concerned that this 10/15kg rating may be too small as I will be using 50lb strain line.

    Thoughts?

I use 80 lb braid on some of my 10 to 15 kg rods...if its a worry then go to the same rod in a 15-24 kg....

    ok - thank Mick.

The reel i have is prob around 15-20 years old but still in very good nick.

It is today's equivalent of the 114 PENN trolling reel.

Can you please google this for me and confirm that the 10-15 rods are still ok?

How does the Powerstick rate against light Fibre and shimano blanks?

If I decide this reel to be soley dedicated to bottom bashing, hence braid.
Should I go 6' or less or 7' blanks?

Else, if I use soley for trolling, hence mono, which rod type then?

    Regards

    GFORCE 600M Overhead 15 - 24 kg
    G FORCE 600H Overhead 24 kg
    G FORCE 700M Overhead 15 - 24 kg
    G FORCE 700H Overhead 24 kg
    G FORCE 800M Overhead 15 - 24 kg
    G FORCE 800H Overhead 24 kg

Which one is most suitable to my application - bottom bashing with PENN 114 6/0 Senator?

Please explain differences between them all.

I would also liek to see a picture of these online - nothing exists.
Can someone help provide a pici?
Yes - I have tried Gary Howard web site - nothing.

    Outsider.

Do u have braid or mono on your PENN?

What breakign strain line do u have on your PENN 6/0?

How much line do u have on your PENN 6/0?

How do u find the heaviness of this reel?

What do u use your rig for - bottom or trolling or livebaiting?

Gday Splash, Penn actually make a 6/0 senator rod matched to the 114H, I'd give that a go. Failing that try the Penn Mariner series rods, maybe the 24kg standup, 5'6". Try Cambells Tackle website here in WA, they have the full Penn range and only cost $30 australia wide freight for rods.

    Cheers

    Splash,
Have Been Using The Live Fibres And Have Changed To A Gary Howard Rod Because We Have Been Struggling To Turn Some Big Snapper Down Here In South East Qld The Gforce Rod Has A Very Similar Rod Action And With A Lot More Power In The Mid Section Wich Has Help With Hook Set And Slowing Them Up On The 1st Run. Have A Look At The 7ft 15-24 Kg. Have . We Have Them Matched Up To Tynos 20 With 50 And 60lb Shogun Mono And A 8-15kg 6ft Witha TrinidaD 30 With 40lb Mono And Have Been Having A Lot Of Good Success

    Regards Josh
