Homer Alaska halibut

Caught on Herring chunks and 16/0 circle hook in 200 feet of water, 2 about this size were taken as well as 6 smaller "chicken" halibut

yeah i reckon imagine catching one in the esturay fight better than a flathead i reckon.
dont know how you would get it off the bottom ?

Watched a interesting dvd on halibut fishing in Alaska.Those critters grow to over 1000lb now thats a bloody big flounder.They were using big accurate overheads which always seemed to end up back in the oversized rod holders and used as deck winches.Plenty of weight but not much fight.Sorry cant remember the title or dist.
Hope you hook up on a 1000lb er next trip over there.
