    Plastics in iluka

Hey, I will be in iluka from the 24-26 (3 days) looking to start fishing with plastics. I have never used them before and was wondering if anyone in the area would be keen to show a bloke the basics. I have gone out and got a few different types however would buy others if they are better. Cheers

I went to the clarence earlier this year and watch out for the stingray i can't believe that take placcies than just snap you off, but we did manage a few lizards buy some berkley 3inch minnow grubs in pumkinseed that should see you get a few flatties and maybe some bream also try any of the gulp range for good results, squidgys work also but gulp's beat them hand's down.

Mate ill be working the whole time you're down but if i wasn't i would have gladly taken you out. The flatties are really getting worked up at the moment so it shouldnt be to hard to get a fish or 2.
Try the entrances to the boat harbour's. The bigger flattys will lie just beside the rock walls waiting for mullet and whiting to swim by.
What sort of rod/reel have you got? Make sure you have a leader around the 8-10kg mark as the flatties will tear through anything less. just cast the plastic (on a jighead) out as far as you can and let it sink to the bottom.
Then just lift the rod straight up, and drop it winding up the slack. Make the lure just sort of hop up and down winding in whenever there is any slack. Feel free to mix it up to, drop the rod and wind a few turns to drag it through the mud or hold the rod high and wind to make the lure "swim" over snags.
Try and stick to sandy areas at first as you will lose less lures and wont take your determination from you.
    hope that helped
Sorry i cant be any more help as i would have loved to get out there. If you're in the tackle store ask them if they know of any locals going out that you could ask for either tips or if you're lucky go out with them
