    Favorite Impoundment Barra Lure

Hello fellow Ausfishers ..... With the start of a new season , I'm interested to see what some of your favorite barra lures are. They can be casting , trolling or both.
Listed are what I would deem classics / standards
Lets say the first lure you will tie on .... This should be an interesting poll ... Nagg

Very interesting poll this one, and should be good reading in the future. The lure that i tie on first is dependant on which dam i am fishing. At Awoonga i generally fish around the weedy edges so straight away i will whack on a 110mm slick rig and give it a go. At Monduran in the timber my favourite is a 125mm Halco Scorpion in the King cobra colors [gold and brown] which dives to about 2.5m when i am casting. I have upgraded the hardware so it doesnt float fast and is definately my favourite.
    Cheers
    Ben

Yeah good Poll mate. In order of preference my favourites would go Classic 120's, B52's, Barra Baits, F18's, Slick Rigs, Scorpions, Leads and Vipers. I assess each spot before I tie on a Lure which I try to stick with for as long as possible. Time and place for each Lure aswell.

This might end up as a good guide for newbies to impoundment barra & what they should be spending their hard earned on ... Nagg

PS ... Classics for me ... but I do have all the named lures on the list ... Plus some others .... leads , Rapala & RMG Poltergeist

My biggest barra was caught on a Viper in Ghostrider colour at Monduran so this has to be my favourite!

Have caught them on Classics and F18s as well!

all fish in march we caught on viper 4+ lures trolling around the timber. Make sure you have a lure retreiving pole it will save you heaps of $ when you hit a snag.

Thumbs up Re: Favorite Impoundment Barra Lure

Apparently i voted on this one? Don't recall it though But anyway the Lively Lure 150mm Arafura Barra gets the nod from me closely followed by The RMG Scorpion 125mm in the 3 meter depth. Number 1 imported lure would be the 14 cm Rapala X-Rap shallow runner

    Cheers Les

I usually pull out a viper first up, always done well with them.
I like the 150mm scorpians as well, like that you can change the bib to change depth. Great if you have a favourite colour, saves buying 2 or 3.
Starting to play around with plastics, no success yet but persistance will pay off

At Awonga. Had a ball. Can't wait to get back up there. But like any dam, could be the total opposite. Dam's change by the hour.

Silver vipers and Elton John barrabaits have accounted for over 20 metre+ barra from Prossy and Kinchant.
