    I'm just glad they didn't get a snap of me stuck up some of my Mudcrab Creeks on a dropping tide

    They were pretty stirred up and probably dedged a bit deeper as well

    I think that's what Seabug was getting to in his original post - well I assumed anyway.

    From memory the cod trawlers ran chains with the net designed to run along the bottom in a somewhat similar fashion to prawn trawling.

    Fish trawls have much heavier ground gear than prawn trawlers. Fish trawls are designed to work over hard bottom where prawn trawls are confined to sandy/silty/muddy substrates. Fish trawls can have all sorts of things attached to the footrope including tyres so the net rolls over the hard bottom. Although both use nets, the nets are very different.
