I wonder if the guys are anybody we know? Whatever, let's hope they all come out of it OK and we all support them, accepting that accidents do happen, even to the best of us. As details are known, it will become a lesson for us all, but let's make an agreement not to post anything in poor taste like the last thread about an accident in the Brisbane river.![]()
Scalem
apparently they hit the rock wall at speed.
Scalem I agree lets keep it real on this thread . hope the guys aren't hurt too bad

From Brisbane times
A man is in a critical condition after a boat collided with a rock wall at Fisherman Islands on Moreton Bay last night.
A Police Media spokesman said the man was one of three men onboard a seven-metre centre console boat returning from an afternoon fishing trip.
"Initial investigations suggest that the boat was returning to the Brisbane River when it collided with the rock wall just after 8.30pm," the spokesman said in a statement.
The driver, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries, was breath tested at the scene and recorded a blood alochol content of zero.
The third man also sustained minor injuries but was not admitted to hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating. The boat, currently stranded on the rocks, is expected to be recovered today with the assistance of a crane.
I hope those blokes are OK.
That rock wall is really claiming some boats. That wall goes almost out to the Coffee Pots.
From memory aren’t here 2 cardinal beacons to the north. I suppose they would be hard to see with the lights from the port behind them. If that is the case they might have to consider special lighting like they do around the runway in Sydney.

For anyone who is not experienced at coming in the Southport Seaway at night would have the biggest problem knowing if you are looking at traffic lights or what, there are so many lights to choose from.![]()
With what Scott said i can just imagine the same problem at the mouth of the Brissy river.![]()
I hope all goes well for them, poor buggers.![]()

Here here.
Don't know about the river mouth, but I know for example in Pine river a lot of the channel marker lights don't seem to be working, I hope this isn't the case now for these poor guys.. Navigating in dark or fading light is bloomin hard at the best of times!
I imagine in a centre console you'd get thrown around a bit, I hope they all recover quickly !
If men are from Mars, and women are from Venus, politicians must be from uranus ?![]()
I agree that the extended rock wall at the port of Brisbane can be hard to see at night. Could definitely use some better lighting.

Saw it on the news this morning.
Was an Outrage 240 CC, was wedged well onto the rocks. One of the guys was hurt bad, but no indications as to whether it was life threatening.
On a side note, the news report was woeful. The boat was described as a 'speedboat' and a 'pleasureboat' and as '24 metres long'. It was mentioned that they were coming back in after a fishing trip though. Then they went on to talk about the other crash that happened up that way recently
G'day
Is the outrage a boston whaler, and was it powered by twin verados?

There is no connection in the circumstances between the two recent Moreton Bay boat accidents where boats were returning home in the early evening, water police said this morning.
"I think they are both two very different accidents in totally separate circumstances," Acting Superintendent Shane Chelepy, from Brisbane Water Police, said.
At a media conference at Lytton near the mouth of the Brisbane River, Superintendent Chelepy said navigation lights were being checked after last night's accident, in which three Brisbane men were injured.
Their seven-metre centre console boat crashed into a man-made reef on the south-side of the mouth of the Brisbane River about 8.30pm.
A 39-year-old man is in a critical but stable condition with severe head injuries in the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
A 37-year-old man received a broken arm and is resting in the Royal Brisbane Hospital, while a third man has superficial cuts and bruises and is in the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Crash damage is clearly visible on the front hull of the 7.2 metre Boston Whaler vessel, with two 150 horsepower engines.
Acting Superintendent Chelepy said the three men were returning to Brisbane after fishing on Moreton Island when their boat hit the eastern edge of the rock wall.
"It is our indication at this stage that all the navigation aids were working and were lit," he said.
The rock wall has been in place for about two and half years.
He said it was not clear why their boat was not in the main boat channel into the Brisbane River.
Superintendent Chelepy disagreed that the yellow lights on the rock wall "dissolved" into the yellow port lights.
"Our early investigations indicate that the wall is well lit," he said.
"There is a yellow special mark lighting up the wall, but as well as that there are also port and starboard lateral markings lighting up the entrance to the river."
"This is a tragic accident, very unfortunate."
Superintendent Chelepy said it was too early to say whether last night's accident, or the incident two weeks ago where four people died when two boats collided off Pinkenba, could have been prevented.
"I think it is too early to say at this stage, whether these are preventable," he said.
"Unfortunately at this stage I would say they are unfortunate accidents."
They will look at the moon phases to check the visibility at 8.30pm last night.
Superintendent Chelepy said he expected interviews would be finished in two weeks with people involved in the crash off Pinkenba two weeks ago, where four people died.
"I think once we have finished those interviews in the next two weeks we will be in a better position to know what actually happened in that incident.
"Once we finalise our investigations on that, the QPS will have to make a determination on whether any charges should be preferred."
A report is being prepared for the Queensland Coroner's office.

I heard on one report that they used the gps and it might not have been up to date with the location of the rock wall now. But you know what the media are like.
Lets just hope that all onboard come out of it okay.
Maybe the department might do something about the lighting there as well?? Who knows nowdays.
