Suggestions required , 1770 - Rainbow
Ok looks like I can get one week week before Christmas to go camping with the family.
Really loose idea was to go to Frazer or rather Rainbow beach, find a nice camping area, bring the Haines and both have an occasional fish as well as get in a daytrip or two to Frazer.
Kids are 11,12,14, I don't have a 4WD but could be enticed to hire one for a daytrip if necessary,
Now am I wasting my time here, should I just go the whole hog and hire a 4WD, head to 1770 instead, or can I have a great time for myself and the kids in the vicinity of Frazer if you now what I mean. With kids you need a place where they can enjoy themselves, sit on a beach, explore, meet others etc and with me well an offshore fish never hurt but at the same time I've got 6weeks off to get my fill so it won't be the decider. I haven't studied the map too hard yet either so hot tips for a great week of camping would be cool.

Hi Burley Boy.Mate you could go to the caravan park at Carlo Point Rainbow Beach.
You wont need a 4x4 to get there. They have a big open area for camping with heaps of room for your boat with powered & non powered sites available.
We go up every Christmas & stay there as you don't get the crowds like when camping on the beach. The kids can ride there bikes around safely.
There is a big boat ramp next to the park,so you can access the bar, or Fraser.
Couple of minutes drive & you can have your family on the beach.

Mate
I strongly recommend Rainbow Waters Caravan Park at Carlo Point
I have a permenant onsight van
My family loves it there
I run a Rod and reel repair service from there also especially on school holidays.
