    Prado Grande anyone?

    Hello all,

The search to replace the beloved Landy has taken a twist with a relative offering me a 2005 Prado Grande the other day.

I've test driven the new diesel VX Prados but the car in question is the auto petrol.

I'm wondering if anyone has a similar version to give me some feedback on the motor and responsiveness of the car.

The car has everything and is in A1 nick. I wouldn't normally be interested in the petrol version but the price is something that I just don't reckon I could go past.

Redbook is saying around the 50K mark. What would owners want from theirs.

Brett, check out this link. I have done some research for my Hilux and this kit is the goods. It gives a hell of a lot more power and you get more torque than a diesel. And for the price you can get the Prado for you will still be getting it cheap with the kit. A few people I spoke to about it even state that you will get better fuel cosumption figures because of the increased low down torque. The catch is to drive it the same as ytou did before the kit was installed.... that will be a big problem for me!!

PS: The Prado is a very good truck. 2" lift and diff locks and it will go almost anywhere. And with the charger........

    Re: Prado Grande anyone?

According to my insurance broker it is no problem. It just has to be a legal modification and you need to notify them and make sure it is put on your policy.

I've lookid into it quite a bit. You see I need it to tow the offroad trailer I'm going to build with the spare hilux tub I have (purley to lug around work equipment. I also need the extra ground clearance and diff locks for new development areas where clearance and traction are an issue (you should see what the fire trail a client is constructing was like before the dozer went down).

I love working in earthworks/construction, the toys are tax deductible.

    Brett,

    A Supercharger????

I was hoping it wouldn't be that lacking in power

I'm more worried about scratching the jet black paint job or god forbid getting mud on the thing

They definately aren't underpowerd, Ilm just trying to live up to my idols motto...

Tim the Tool Man Taylor - MORE POWER!!!

I'm one of those silly people who are never happy with what comes off the showroom floor, the 'charger will give the Prado 270kw!!! As for scratching the black paint thats why I bought a white 'lux. And I get it buffed every 6 months. There are some coatings you can get though, they wash off so they won't be much help in the mud. Just check with Phill to see if the mud is 2ft deep.
