    Re: AFLP AGM, this saturday??

    Hi guys,

There is no "qualifying period" in respect of membership so attendance on the night, by signing up before the start is certainly allowable.

The only qualifyer is that membership fees must be "cleared" so a cheque would not be suitable for "on the night" members. It would need to be a cash membership and a reciept must be issued.

There is however a 6 month qualifying period in respect of voting rights so attendance and participation in discussion is allowed but actual voting is not.

    Hope this clarifies.

Anyone interested in attending and requiring specific details can do so by contacting the secretary directly on wayne@mitchellsmarine.com.au

    Whoops,

And before I get taken to task. It does my head in that I have to keep a copy of the constitution beside the computer and refer to it constantly...but...such is life.

I will blame a long day behind the wheel but I misread section 9.9 in respect of voting rights. The qualifying period is only in respect of preselection.

A member, joining on the night, can vote in the AGM once their membership has been accepted. This is after reciept of "cleared" funds and issue of a reciept by the party secretary.

Sorry about that...long day...............and pleased to be able to correct myself before some other bugger did it for me

    All good

AGM on later today and it had been our intention to broadcast on our web site for those who wanted to look in but could not attend.

The techs set up yesterday but the venue does not have broadband link and the next G network for wireless aparently has too weak a singnal so it can't be done

I will have the full powerpoint presentation up on the web site early in the week.

    Re: AFLP AGM, this saturday??

Just a quick update that the AGM was successfully staged last night....and I've just got home now after a 1400k round trip and trying work through emails.

A new executive board has been elected, whose names I will post tommorrow but with some new faces and more SE corner representation.

The name change was unanamously adopted and we are now officially The Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party.

A policy position statement has been approved for display and available for member comment. I will be voted on by members for adoption as official party policy in due course.

A motion was passed to delete all and any reference to TFPQ from our constitution.

A full copy of minutes will be sent to all members during the next week, along with membership renewal forms and any additional information required.

Big night, big tick for the decisions we have made and we can now move on.

All paperwork required will be lodged with the AEC on Monday morning.

I seem to have missed your post on the new AFLP Executive Members that was due to be posted 17 Sept. Please direct me to the post as I was unable to attend the AGM due to work commitments.

Also have not yet received copy of minutes or membership renewal forms that the above post said would be sent out during the week commencing 17 September.

You still a member Shane? I thought you were voting with your feet!
I must admit my most practical choice at the moment tends towards the TFP as my only option to support the Fishing Vote.

I thought that you of all people would have been the last one to be interested in the changes. Or are you still trying to stir the pot? I notice you mentioned the missed "deadline" twice. Its gotta make people wonder!

Having said that, I too am interested and have been checking the boards daily for any new posts and I can see that they are trying to get new info up so I guess we'll have to wait a little longer. I do like the new site and logo though .

    Re: AFLP AGM, this saturday??

Member newsletter is now posted on our web site and new membership application form as well. This went up last night, and given our AGM was 6 days ago I think we are "going OK".

Member letter and application form is being emailed to all members on our email data base on Monday and hard mailed to all members who are not on our data base. Big job but we will do ASAP.

Minutes of meeting are available to all bona fide members on request. These are for members only and I don't think it is appropriate to post them.

I have said we will get to this process during the week commencing 17th and given time and resource contraints we are "on it".

I also read Shanes post the same way others did. He was making a choice to join TFP in NSW and was not interested in being a member of The Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party. No proxy to this effect was received. I also note that a member of TFP (NSW) can not be a member of another party (based on the constitution lodged with the AEC).

In respect of the new executive of The Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party the executive is.
Chairman (standing down) : Kevin Collins
Vice (and now acting) Chairman Steve Todeshini.
    Secretary : Rick Huckstepp
    Treasurer : Paul Tabell
    Executive members : Chris Ryan
    : Robert Erskine

    Re: AFLP AGM, this saturday??

Looks like another case of misunderstanding or misinterpretation.

I was under the impression from previous posts that all TFPQ members became AFLP members at the AGM. I also understood that as Party Membership between TFP and AFLP had not been "cut and dried" and according to the AEC, the choice as to whom to support would be that of the Member, and assumed that the transferred Members would receive the appropriate documention to complete that would confirm or resign their Membership with the AFLP. I was unaware that the Proxy forms may have been intended for that purpose, and I hope that all other members who failed to lodge a proxy realise that they too may no longer be Members of the Party.

To the best of my knowledge, I am still currently a fully financial member of the AFLP having not completed any documentation to the contrary, nor have I received any notice of cancellation by the Party.

With TFP registration still not confirmed, there is currently no conflict in relation to being a member of more than one party.

I am surprised that my request has generated such a response as I was only looking for information that had been indicated would be made available, and at the time of posting had been unable to find in Ausfish or the AFLP websites.

Thanks KC for the information regarding the new Executive Members. Sorry to see that Wayne and Alex are no longer on the Executive.

    Regards
    Shane Boese

Yes there does seem to be some misunderstandings and or misinterpretation here. Whilst TFP is not currently a FEDERALLY registered Party, they are still a Party at (NSW) State level and in fact as far as the law is concerned, you do not have to be FEDERALLY registered or even STATE registered to be called a Party. As KC indicated, both the NSW TFP constitution and the QLD constitution (both before and after the split) indicate that you can only be a member of one party at a time, (your personal copy; section 9.1 will confirm that).

As I recall Shane you took great efforts to tell the world that you joined TFP and not AFLP (or even the TFPQ) examples of which are below:

Below is a scaned copy of the Application form from the July 2004 QFM mag. It shows that if you signed this form you were joining The Fishing Party.

    Regards Shane Boese
However, Federally I will still be a member of TFP as per the Membership Application form signed at time of joining
Regarding any other issues related to proxies official AEC declaration/acknowledgment of cessation of formal ties etc, it is not my job to comment. But I thought that given the circumstances I would clarify any apparent conflict of remaining members of both parties, which clearly there is. The Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party and the Fishing Party (NSW) are now two separate parties, even Derek has acknowledged that: http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...d.php?t=116505. And thus according to BOTH constitutions you cannot be a member of both!!

Regardless of any personal opinion, that is the situation according to the LAW (and applicable constitutions) and now members can make their own decision and vote with their feet if necessary. In any case I do note that a new form is coming out allowing members to formally declare their membership (transfer membership to AFLP) without having to repay the joining fee.

If there is any confusion Shane then perhaps you should consider waiting till this form comes out and then decide whether you will sign it or not... and then wait until it is accepted.... or not.
