    macks closest to redcliffe?

    G'day everyone,

Just looking at having a shot at some mackeral this coming season near Redcliffe.

Wondering what areas I can take particular notice of that tend to get visited by these critters more than most places.

I will be fishing from a 4m vpunt so prolly within about 2 miles of the coast of redcliffe would be most suitable. V punts are not too well adapted to the bay esp with predominant SE of the warmer months.

Maybe even off the southern end of Bribie could be within reach too i guess.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

    Jack.

    Gedday Tunaticer,
Earlier this year (feb?) when heading over to moreton we saw 4 or 5 patches of what I expect was mackerel all about 2 mile off redcliffe coast from woody point to scarby reef. Saw them a couple of different times so it would appear they do hang around redcliffe area. Good luck!!

    Thanks fellas,

Gonna have to put in the hours and be waiting for them to appear it seems.

If the weather gods put a few nice days down in front of my tinnie i might slip over to more reliable grounds for a few hours too but geez they would have to be happy gods that day.

    Hey Jack,
I got stuck into the spotties in late April this year not very far south of Scarby reef. It was the first time i had got a spottie and it was great fun on the light gear.... I can't wait to get some more. They come in very close and you should not have any problem getting amongst them in your punt.

Hey mate scarby reef through to woody point will produce a few as will the yellow tripod out from bribie. Did ok last year vertical jigging metals and plastics at the tripod last year although numbers and size were pretty average.

I picked up a bag of good sized Spotties off Scarb last season. Used to get plenty of Schoolies off Gilligans and Skirmish Point

    Good Luck
