    Yepoon Land based

I am heading up to Yepoon in early December for a wedding and there is a small window of opportunity there where i can go for a landbased flick somewhere..No secret spots just a heads up in the right direction. I am talking esturies or a headland for a gee tee maybe so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Cheers

    Hey Ben,
    4wd option:
If you have at least 6 hours spare head out to the five rocks area and then back towards Yepoon down 9 mile beach to Corio Bay headland. Do the stone hopping around there throwing whatever lures you desire to lose. Generally you will be donating them to some bloody big travs and cod and groper with the odd spaniard thrown in. I have fished it with up to 15kg line on heavy spin gear and still been done over a lot.

Nearer the mouth of the bay there is a long finger of rock sloping down into the sea with a big current boil going over it usually. Hard or almost impossible not to get hookup after hookup there 24/7.

    2wd option:
Go to the Roslyn Bay boat harbour and walk around the beach side of the headland at low tide to the fishing platform on the SE corner of Double Head. Take along a good 6kg-8kg spin setup and some chrome spoons/drones/pegrons and heave them out as far as you can and let them sink to the bottom. take up the slack and crank them back for mackeral. Get good catches of spots, schoolies, sharkies and spaniards there regularly.

    Jack.

Thanks Jack for that valuable information. Sounds like i am in for some good action. Better take the new 25 lb spin stick and a fair few lures.
Don't have quite 6 hours unfortunately but the Corio Bay option sounds awesome. Maybe next time with some more time on my hands.

    Re: Yepoon Land based

It will take you over an hour to drive there to Corio Heads each direction and it is quite heavy going in soft sand at times. Be forewarned, The track leading off the beach back home can be a very deeply rutted affair that will have you dragging the diffs the entire way up and its a long way up.
Definitely worth the look tho.....awesome fishing to be had there. I didn't mention the salmon that hang around there in good numbers either or the big barras for first light flicking around.

Stop it Jack!!!!!! You are starting to make my mouth water and start thinking of excuses as to why i really don't have to be at this wedding and how i can go fishing for the majority of the time. I wonder just how many lures i can squeeze into my prado on top of my mother in law!!!
    Cheers and thanks again
