Sorry I have been off line for a couple of days. Other committments. Yep! Have a job too and just back from a same day 14 hour round trip (drive) to Cairns...whew!
From our perspective....and I accept this is open to "interpretation".
As at, and subject to, the AGM on Saturday (another drive to Cairns) TFPQ will become AFLP at both state and federal level.
This will be a new party, completely seperate from TFP and a minute of meeting will confirm this to ECQ and (if required)AEC.
All members will be advised in writting of the AGM's outcome and will have a clear choice.
Given a member can not be a member of 2 seperate parties it will be one or the other ...not both, they can choose to be a member of TFP NSW....
as at this stage there is not a registered TFP Federally..or be a member of AFLP.
"Our" members have been identified as "our" members by both the ECQ and AEC.
Having seperate bank accounts & seperate ABN's plus TFPQ on membership forms helps us establish a clear identity.
This is our position. End of story. Any set of counter opinions can be held, but, at this stage, AFLP is registered and TFP is not.....
We have no interest in the business of TFP in NSW or elsewhere.
We are just happy to get on with our mission and want the divorce over and done with.
This is like a drawn out custody battle over who gets the dinner set and the dog after court has already decided who gets the house.
Any member, Shane included, who does not want us to go in this direction can vote against it on Saturday, however, given the amount of support we have been getting, both verbally and by proxy, the support appears overwhelming.
After Saturday members can then vote with there feet if they do not like the decision. Pretty easy really.
There is scope, within the constitution to reject or cancell a membership but this is not somewhere we are interested in going.
Amazingly complex and nit picky when all we really want to do is just get on with things.
We are changing our name, we are changing our identity, we are completely disassociating ourselves from the NSW based Fishing Party and Bob, we have undertaken the variuos steps required to do this and the AEC has accepted our application and registered us...on Saturday members will vote to accept, or reject this process......the variuos authorities, including the tax office and banks will then be advised..........how much more do we need to do??
One thing all this carry on has done...it has got members and fringe/maybe members interested...which is not a bad thing. We are fighting for the Bay, but also "our" party and it's been gratifying to get the support we have got and the many PM's have kept us motivated to fight the good fight.
Thanks guys.
