I went and scouted Mt Crosby weir today. Looked like some promising spots. What sort of lures are best for that area? I'm thinking spinnerbaits and small poppers? I only had some SPs with me and they didn't raise any interest.
Fishing below the weir in the settling pond is illegal unless you get a special permit from DPI&F.

Fishing, which includes collecting, is not allowed in the following areas:
Brisbane River: Old Mount Crosby Weir to 50 m downstream of the weir;
200 m upstream to 400 m downstream of Mount Crosby Weir; and
Wivenhoe Dam to 600 m downstream of the dam wall.
I only know of one fishing club that has a permit to fish below the weir as they do so to tag bass.
400 meters below the weir and all you will get is weed and catfish. Basically they stuffed it up when they made the new rules; this used to be a hot spot for all kinds of species but now if you keep within the rules it's not worth fishing.
