Steve had a very unfortunate run when i was building things for him.
Firstly he had a kevlar graphite hull made in NZ and shipped over here while i built a trailer and towing body for it. Sent the trailer and tow body to Canberra for hot dip galvanizing (only place in Aus at that time with a bath big enough for a single dip) and when it came back the thing was twisted as hell thru a bad quench. Scrapped that trailer and built a identical new one again and had that tar epoxyed and set up. Mounted the towbody to the new F350 and off to get the boat slipped onto the trailer for registering.
All registered and insured and less than an hour later some dopey sheila didnt give way at Anzac Ave and Duffeild Road, Kallangur and hit the boat midriff drivers side and drove all the way up the side of the boat and trailer and into the tow body on the new F350. The F350 was the only thing left that was recoverable.
Build trailer #3 and a alteration for the std F350 body to tow with and a brand new hull custom built again from NZ. and he got to race it finally.
Next season he went to a cat hull again and the cig hull sat in the yard where he worked for several yrs after that.
I hope his luck has changed a lot since then, He is a really nice fella that copped a really bad stretch of luck back then.
