Re: formosa boats
G'day Charlie
I have a 4.5mtr c/c which i have owned since new (dec 2004). They superseded this model with the 4.8.
Mine was ordered as a base model and added extras were engine well, anchor well, side rails and closed in storage section at bow. i think that this stuff is standard now and they do a pod so there is no need for a rear well.
It has deep gunnels,is very comfortable/safe to fish in and very stable when stopped. Handles the chop pretty good but bangs around like any normal ally boat will. Trimmed correctly i have never had an issue with it in a following sea. When motoring with the weather on the forequarter it can get uncomfortable and this seems to be the angle that the hull has the least performance. Any c/c will be uncomfortable on this angle though i think.
Their underfloor gusset structure is solid and for a boat this size i would say it is one of their strong points.
Paintwork on the boat is still excellent but i have garaged it since new, carpets and all other stuff is in exc condition also, mind you i only have about 170 hrs on this boat.
As Mike says if you are in the area go and check out the factory.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Mick
