    Sliding Snell

I've been trying for hours to tie the Sliding Snell knot.
I've got Geoff Wilsons book of knots and rigs in front of me as well as animated knots on the PC!
Anyone else have trouble trying to tie this prick of a knot??

Persistance, I'll get there. (or I'll smash something real soon).

Have a look at the video on the knots section and see if that helps. Sometimes easier to follow a video that a picture in a book

remember that the top hook is a SLEEVE and not a snell as such..

    think sleeve..

They are a crap knot anyway in my opinion.

The only trouble i have is tightening the knot as i nearly always pick the main line instead of the tag end to tighten. Might help if someone you know shows you.Its to hard to describe here.

    Re: Sliding Snell

It is possible to make a much stronger connection by terminating both and not sliding , by snelling the bottom one first then the upper hook in reverse .It is not a difficult or time consuming rig to tie ..

IMHO The sliding snell whilst very neat , and a challenge etc.. Is a shit knot used for a brief period by anyone who challenges terminal tackle.

Moving parts = weakness . right where ya dont want any .

again just remember the top is a sleeve and not a knot and the diagram will make sense.

Got it well and truly sorted now.

Bit of a challenge, but on top of it now.

    Cheers Jeff.
