    Awoonga Speed Limits

Can anyone who has been to Awoonga lately tell me is it true that they have placed a six knot speed limit on the lake due to the low water level.

    Re: Awoonga Speed Limits

    i dout it
iv lived in this area for the last 16 years and when it was extreamly low..(when the middel of the dam was a bacnk about 1.5m above water level)there was no speed limits, so if there going to put one in now i personally think its a wast of time.no accidents happend for that large periode of time when it was sooo low that the old boat ramp was nilly out of the water by 2 feet so y would ther ebe accdents now when its no were near there.
but i guess u have to take other things into note....such as the amount of people fishing there now to the amount fishing there 8 years ago
but the carravan parkl should be albe to inform u on that ...all i know is the barra are on the bite and im not out there

    cheers nath

    How ya living?

I was up there a couple of weeks ago and the according to the sign at the boat ramp, the 6 knots limit only applied to areas near the boat ramp and other areas such as where people swim.

No restrictions on the rest of the dam.

Was under the impression that the 6knot limits is within the buoys area only.

    But things change.

Maybe a call to the onsite rangers to clear up, they are always more than helpful.

Was on Awoonga yesterday and the sign appears the same old one, its a little inconclusive, mentions hazards etc, but its certainly not a new sign in the sense of some new rule. And for sure noone is doing 6 knots, you would never get anywhere like that with size of the lake, and masses of deep open water.

    Re: Awoonga Speed Limits

Just to clarify, no 6 knot limit on Awoonga apart from the bouyed area (which is pretty much non existant). The skiers love that area, its protected.
The signage is the same as its always been, and warns of submerged hazards.
