Hey guys, has anyone got the Nautic Path Aus & NZ map card? What extras do you get with the card and is it worth it?

Do yourself a favour and get yourself a Navionics 32XG card. heaps more detail than the Nautic Path. Worth the ectra $$ in my opinion
Hi Mike, I have a Nautic Path chart and can't fault it. Havn't ran aground yet and I catch more fish than Shanoss wand his flash murray XG32 card
I have attached a couple of pics of the detail of the card so you can compare.

Whilst i'm still trying to figure out how to upload photos, I'll remind Lee that he has next to no paint left on the skeg of his motor. Are you sure you have not ran into anything Lee?
Must be pictures of your flash murray GPS huh Shane, one things for sure they wont be pics of all the fish you catch
As for the paint off the skeg, thats cos I don't drive miss daisy unlike some...
You keep driving like you do Lee and you or your boat will end up pushing up Daisys. Cant post a picture here by the way, the Navionics map has too much detail for the screen to handle it. did you even have to reduce your photos to fit?

- The numbers all around the place is the depths?
- How accurate are the beacons and other points? How accurate/trustworthy is it?
- Does it have any other points like reefs or wrecks?
- I can see in the second pic a small "T" in the box, is that the Tidal flow? Are there many of these points around?
- Any other useful extra bits and pieces?

From what Shanoss has said, and he has used both charts the Navionics is more detailed, he did get confused one day using my chart because the sea was different colour than he was used to, (Shanoss also requires the extra details because he tends to get lost at sea) but as for accuracy i doubt there is much between them.
Considering there is roughly a $200 price difference between the two then I guess it's up to you.
I probably would have got the Navionics originally however I got the Nauticpath for nothing and so far it has done the job.
Cheers Leezor, money is a big criteria in choosing and 200 bucks left over can buy a few extra plastics.
If the "T" is the same as my vastly superior Navionics card, then it tells you tidal details and moon phases. As for getting lost at sea....... i was signal jammed by the navy.. well thats my story and i'm sticking to it! The Nautic path map wont even tell you the name of the reefs you want to fish. so you would have to use it in conjunction with a paper chart as you are meant to do in any case... unless of course you are like Lee and only have one spot. Its hard to find new spots when you are sleeping the days away eh Lee? Must be all tuckered out from all the banging and crashing on the way out to your spot?

I've got the Nauticpath chart in my Seacharter 500cdf and have found it to be very good, all the beacons are there in areas where it has detailed charts scanned, which is most of them. Just a couple of relatively minor qualifications:
1. It doesn't have quite the detailed chart coverage that the latest Navionics charts have - for example, around Moreton Bay its the same coverage/detail as Navionics but in the Pin area it doesn't have the latest chart data scanned in so from about the Slipping Sands to Tipplers it only has the general background chart - no beacons etc due to that. This is the same as last year's Navionics chart which now has been upgraded to 100% chart detail from Bribie thru to the Gold Coast. Presumably later versions of the Nauticpath chart will include this detail as they acquire the rights to the latest chart data.
You could check with them about detailed chart coverage in your area.
2. The "T" symbol does give you tides, tidal flow etc for that particular location by putting the cursor over the "T" and hitting the wpt key.
However I've found that the tidal info is way off beam compared to tide charts from BOM and reality. I don't know why, but I'm not complaining because I got my Nauticpath chart for free last year when Eagle was running a promo! Might get round to sending them an e-mail sometime to ask what's going on.
