camp lighting,,,anyone here heard of "diamond"lights??
once more,,, as i get further into the shed clearout,,, i'm finding stuff that i've forgotten about
i came across an old faithful,,, that hasn't seen the light of day since i moved to bribie
DIAMOND 2 STROKE PETROL POWERED PORTABLE LIGHT
i'll post pics on this,,, but thought,,, someone here must know them,,,, my old company in NSW imported about 500 of these,,,to fulfill an order,, and then the licence went to a competitor and we didn't bother to pick them up again as they weren't part of our mainstream business
to explain them,,,,, 150 watt sealed beam """"headlight""" built into a removable surround that clips onto a 2 stroke petrol powered generator,,,, easy,,,,
there extemely lightweight,,, very very bright,,, and the light itself can be replaced via anything that requires 12 volt power,,, i used this thing extensively with the 2 boys on numerous trips when in NSW,,,,
i'm currently giving it a cleanup,,,,, i'll post pic asap,,,,

i'm using mrs choppa's computor here,,,, my laptop had a terminal fatality but we wont go into that
hope pics turn out okay,,,
they were taken prior to a bit of a cleanup,,,,, so its a bit dusty,,,, i pulled the spark plug out ,,,gave it a squirt of wd40,,,, a touch of 2 stroke and it fired,,,,,,unbelievable,,,,
no 2 son reckons we used this down under the pine river bridge a few times when we first came to bribie,,, so his memory is better than mine,,,, all i know is that its bright

a little kawasaki motor drives the generator,,,, and the light housing comes away from the motor if required via the stainless catches,,,, the exaust exists from the bottom foot rest as shown in the bottom left pic,,,, it probably weighs about 3-4 kg (if that),,,, but very powerful,,,,
i've got it at work at the 'mo,,,,, having a good clean up,,,,,

Very cool.
How noisy is it?
You could almost remove that light and run a fridge off it. Make it into a little genny.

not too sure it would be my idea of a camp light, the hiss of a gas lamp gives me the sh!ts when out 'in the bush" don't know why you would go to all the trouble of getting away from it all and having a generator chugging away?? kind of like the guy who goes out to get into the "fresh air" and lights up a Cigarette first thing!
Aahh the serenity!!
