IMHO, it is the sounder that has set the benchmark for those dollars. Set it up right and you will never look back. The 600w trans. is more than capable for just about everything this side of the shelf.

    Deano!

I was going to buy the 620 but when i saw the the 585 sit beside it, my mind changed in an instant - despite the extra few dollars.

The screen size on the 585 gives it alot more value in my opinion - so much more bang for your buck!

    Good luck!

I have a FCV 620 and have found it to do all I want / need and much more. I also agree that the 585 is a bigger unit. It would not suit my setup hence the 620 Check them out at the boat show if you can get there.

Dean1, my cat is so so I guess. Yes I will be organising a cat day for a few cats to the northern bnk and possible a trip to the shelf sometime soon, when i can tee up a time for all involved. I'll keep you intouch as with Wadeo.

Just purchased one myself.Looks pretty flash, but I think for an extra $ 500 I would go the 585 if I had it over.

Disordely, I'm going to get either a 620 or 585, I was surprised for you to say only $500 difference. What did you pay mate. I'm going to boat show thursday to get a unit.

    Re: Furuno 620

    Mike,

It took 4-5 days from New York.
    The postage/insurance was US$55.
For info on the transducer look at page 2 or 3 on this electronics section for a thread titled "Which transducer for Furuno FCV620"

Also remember that when buying overseas that the exchange rate determines how much it actually costs you.
So before buying work out how many $US the item will cost then run it through a currency converter(just google this)to give an indication of the cost on that day.
The aussie dollar is down 6 or 7 percent since I bought my unit.

    Good luck
