Does anyone know of a web site where I can get some boating safety info?
The sort of stuff you would learn for your licence. What different coloured and shaped beacons mean etc etc?

Does anyone know whats a marker with vertical red and yellow stripes mean?
Also the blue marker lights in the river have me a little curious
Hamish
A Safe water mark has vertical red & white stripes with a red top mark if a pillar or spar. If spherical will also have red & white vertical stripes, but may not have a top mark.
The blue light you refer to if there are two one above the other are range/bearing/lead lights for a given 'road' or lead. These lights assist the ship pilot in maintaining a correct course and position in a channel.
