Hi guys,
What do you think, would it be wise to buy a rod you have never seen on the net, without feel its weight, its action, the guides finishing etc? There are many on-line tackle store that sells reels and lures which seems understandable however, do they actually sell rods?
How many of you did buy rods on the net?
I have seriously considered it but found that after freighting(from overseas) it becomes fairly close to our prices in stores over here. Freight for rods is expensive due to the fragilitly of rods and length i think. For me Rods = no reels = yes.

Some very high class rods available from overseas via the net, a lot of moneys' worth to arrive damaged, definitely worthy of serious thought.
Would be different for buying from a well-used source within Aus maybe, whatever way I went I would be insuring the parcel, IMO much more prone to damage than a reel etc.
Having said this however, a rod packed in PVC pipe with appropriate end-caps should be fine, though expensive to pack and send.
Aus Post has some issues with sizes that affect most rods being posted, so courier would be the go from within Aus.
If you decide to buy via the net, IMHO make certain you check out how well the rod is going to be packed!

G`day,Unless you know the exact rod that your after and have had it in your hands before it probally wouldn`t be advisable.What feels good to one person,may not to another.However internet prices are very good compared to stores and it makes it very tempting.The most you will pay for frieght from aus internet stores is around $30 and some decent rods have frieght free.
you also have to be aware of cheap imitations of known brand rods, I have seen this a couple of times now, especially from little dodgey one man band operations that offer really cheap prices on stuff.
get to ya local tackle store and have a chat to them. they'll help you out and its better than buying a shonk off the internet.

No but in saying that I have purchased other stuff sight unseen and all has worked out alright.
