    Borumba 19/8

    Hi Guys,
Fished wet and windy Borumba yesterday and had a pretty good day. Over 25 Bass with the biggest going 47cm to the fork, and only 4 undersized. A fat golden jumped in on the action as well. The fish were holding in the shallower water (Under 4m) chasing bait. All fish taken on jackals or spinnerbaits burned through the shallow water. All released to catch another day.

Saw well over 20 toga for the day as well, but do you think I could catch one??

    Cheers,
    Matt

Mate that sounds like a good solid session

A basspro was held there only a couple of weeks back for very poor returns - only like a dozen or so fish were caught if I am not wrong.

Which arm of the dam were you fishing? And were the fish holding off the points?

    Regards

    Hey guys,
Yeah I heard about the poor fishing- it was a minibucks event and only 6 fish were weighed in for the whole event. I'm competing in the next 2 rounds so thought I better see how poor the fishing was.

The fish came from almost everywhere there was any sizeable area of shallow water- 4m or less. Sounding around for 2mins looking for bait balls on the sounder made all the difference when looking for a likely spot- no bait, no fish.
Fish came from all 3 timbered arms, as well as the bays and points around the main basin. There were a lot of shutdown fish in the timber in deeper water that couldnt be enticed.

The fish that had died were mostly boney bream. They were a foot thick in some areas. Hasnt seemed to affect the fishing though.

    Cheers,
    Matt

This bad weather we're getting again now might affect the dam. It was just recovering from the old snap. Fished the Minibucks myself. There were 6 or 7 fish caught on the saturday, most by pure luck and only one on sunday, and it was hooked on the top of its head. Hope this bad weather that is hitting the coast now doesn't roll the dam. Its on the verge of it. Thermocline is high in the water so it mightn't take much.
    Heres hoping
