pin trip 17/8 - 18/8 lots of weed
left rudy's at 2pm friday with the plan of casting for live bait and then sit down at
kallangar bank for low tide on dark. after many throws of the net, ended up with
a couple mullet and gar, on the way down to the spot, stopped at curose and caught a couple tailor...great i thought..look out Jew!!
Anchored up in my spot at 4pm (2 hrs before low tide) thru out 3 lines, each with
a different bait on..and waited..waited..waited.all i caught was loads and loads on weed.
A little tinny comes down just before dark, anchors up close to the bank..throws out a dirty old prawn on a 2/0 bream hook and WHACK....line takes off and after
a short while, a 13kg jew comes in the boat....could have slit my throat!!
Pulled the pin at 3pm saturday, sick of fighting the wind and weed with total
catch being : 26 bream, 4 flathead, 9 whiting and 2 tailor..
bream, fltahead and tailor came from the pin bar area as it was the only place
in the whole pin where there was no weed.
Anyone thinking of venturing down there over the next week or two, be prepared
for the weed.
anyway, sandcrabbing season is only weeks away, will wait until then to go again.

hi whiting killer at least you got a feed and you where out there wetting a line. yeah hopefully we get a bit more rain to flush the rivers out and i find this will get rid of the weed.. i see you mentioned sand crabs do get them do the pin in numbers?

hi timor 2
if you want to catch 1/2 a dozen, they start to show around the powerlines, flat rock and whalleys gutter early sept...if you want a decent feed, you need to head further north up around top of macleay or along the western side of north straddie...early sept you can get around 30-40 for a morning sess without
to much drama.
hope this helps
