You're up Pancake Creek there.
Dunno if it's Nat Park or not.
Parks in Maryborough will be able to tell you, but I doubt it is a "camping area" due to access areas there.
I think the pro fishos camp is/was right nearby there - it has been approx 8 years since I did any work around that area.
Beautiful spot.

Mate contact Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service - they'll tell you all they need to know. It is part of Eurimbula National Park. Bloody great area there.

Not sure how you get over there by vehicle. I've been to the creek crossing where the locked gate is on the other side. Always been told that you can't get access.
Would be interested to see what you find out about this, I've always wanted to get over there.
You can see the crossing and gate in a write up I have on my website. It's old, but you'll get the idea.

Re: camping at bustard head
The lighthouse keepers used to be able to get vehicles in and out on the very low tides Corry.
If I remember correctly there is a bit of a man made weir under the powerlines - it is always covered in salt water, but that's apparently where they used to cross. We used to fly over there for work and remember one of the old blokes telling the story.
Dunno much else about it.
Perhaps get in touch with Stuart Buccannan (ex keeper). Des Mergard (1770) will have his details.
I'd guess that the locked gate is for the spurline running up to the lighthouse?
The pros used to have vehicles in there as well.

hi .im originaly from central queensland and ive camped at pancake creek a couple of times but we have never gone by 4x4 .we usualy launch our boat from turkey beach and go around rodds peninsula to get there or there a track of the main road to turkey beach takes you to pancake creek and you can launch a boat on high tide .its been a couple of years since ive been there but you didn't need a perment to camp at pancake creek and you couldn't camp at the light house site.
