    Green/Harries Friday 17th & Broked Rod

Headed off to Harries at about 5am, have never been there so it was more an experiment than anything, fishing was very quiet indeed - couldnt believe it was 20 metres deep there in some spots, i thought my sounder had something wrong with it. After trying there for a couple of hours i headed off to green (with a spitting headache ), and upon taking off my anchor fell off the front seat and fell on my relatively new Berley Dropshot . Wasnt impressed at all. This was the only plastic rod i had in the boat, and so thought whilst im here i'll fish Green for a while (with a rod that was 2 foot shorter than what it should have been) No luck either.

Only good part of the day was i stopped into Mos**ps tackle on the way home in search of a new rod (becuase of my stupidity) and picked up a Team Diawa Saltwater Series Rod. Is rated 3-5kg and is 7ft, feels pretty special so cant wait to get out there and use it. Apparently they have just been released, picked it up for $200- was advertised for $240 so didnt do too bad i dont think.

Only thing better than catching fish is buying new gear and breaking in on its first fish.Have fun

Hmmm I will have to try that trick and see if I can buy a new rod. Any special technique needed to get the anchor drop right?
Sounds like a good bargin on the new rod as well.

I think the special technique needed is in the careful and judicious placement of said anchor!!

Hey mickstar, at least you have been out on the water, I've just spent the last two weeks on holiday moving house, next week is my last week of holidays, and wouldn't you know it, the forecast is looking decidedly crap. Good luck with the new rod mate, christen it well!!

Never been or fished Harries but hope to soon 20 meters I wonder what grey suits work in those waters I have the Team Diawa 3 to 5 kg as my SP rod and love it, It can be a bit stiff at times but I know it's got some guts to it when I finally catch my train !!!!!!!
