Anyone know a marine engineer?
I am currently replacing the transom on my old glass boat.
It is much beefier than the old transom. New ply is 34mm thick all the way, Old ply was 25mm thick at the top, and 12mm at the bottom.
Hull is rated to 85 HP with the old original transom.
I would like to have it uprated slightly to 90HP so that I can fit a nice lightweight 2 stroke in an extra long leg (25").
No doubt the new transom will handle the extra 5 HP, but the insurance company wouldn't be happy if I was 5 HP over the original rating of hull.
So I am looking for someone to re-certify the hull for the extra 5 HP.
Anyone know of an engineer in Brisbane (Southside preferrably) who could, and would do the job?
Cheers, Ross

Re: Anyone know a marine engineer?
Ross,
A boat builder can do it,but normally ,they would do the work.
You will need something in writing, and a new plate. Grand Marlin might be able to point you in the right direction.
You are correct about the insurance.

It may or may not be their line of work but you could have chat to these guys and get their opinion, I've dealt with them before and they've been very helpful.
