Hey Guys,
I'm pretty new to this site and am lovin all the good info I am picking up. I have just moved down from Townsville and am struggling with the change of fishing conditions down here. I am heading out with some workmates around peel on sat morning and am looking for any info at all as to what to target and how. At this time in townsville I would be chasing Macs but I think it is too cold here at the moment for that.
I am super keen on trying SP and seeing how I go. If need be I will use bait but am trying to move away from bait when ever possible.
try fishing the north easton end off peel just off the green beakon there is a house boat wrek but not much remains anymore try soft plastics in about 4 m if no luck try the deeper drop offs good luck .......
G'day Greg. Have had my most success at Peel using 4 and 5 inch Gulp Jerk shads in Lime Tiger on 1/8th TT jigheads. Casting 90 degrees from the bow of the boat and letting the gulp drift to the stern giving it a few flicks every now and then.
I use 6 to 14lb Fireline Crystal normally attached to a 20lb FluoroCarbon leader.
Snapper is the target.
Hope that helps.
Also from Townsville mate. Miss those Mac sessions.
That's an interesting move, from the fishing macca that townsville is, down to brissy....
One thing that i failed to tell you greg, is an area 'near peel island' that holds large schools of spotty mackeral during the warmer months, at the beginning of this year, we didn't have a fishless trip (most times close to our bag limit).... i think that one i'll have to show you in person, i never did get to see how the rubber ducky handles...
LOL Sorry Mike I'm not familiar with spot X.................... I do know of a couple of spot x....................'s in Townsville but none down here.
Thanks for the info mike I am still aguing with the boys as to whether we are going to Peel or not, they are starting to get scared of the weather, not knowing what it is like I am still keen to go.
Looks like we are going to go north now Mooloolaba maybe?
